14A- halfway reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. This course requires perseverance and dedication. Most classes require these qualities, so I already practiced them in the past, but this class requires a different form of them. This class requires more than perseverance in dutifully submitting assignments, it is important to invest time. The more you invest, the more you get out of this class and the things you learn in this class are essential foundations for any entrepreneurial situation.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Moments when I felt like giving up were usually connected to the amount of homework I have. In the midst of a lot of classes, homework and studying can tend to pile up. Times when I felt like giving up had to do with not feeling like I had the time to commit to doing the assignments well. Like I said, it's important to dedicate time to this, so I feel like the things that I got out of each assignment motivated me to have a tenacious attitude. It's Important to put in the work, even if others don't see it, because it will benefit you.
3) Three tips.
  1. Invest time into this class, and its assignments, to learn the most possible from it.
  2. When responding to other posts, give real feedback, while remaining encouraging, because this is the best way to improve and learn new things.
  3. Start the assignments ahead of time. Some assignments take significantly longer than others, and if you begin them too late, then you won't have enough time to complete it well.

  1. Nancy,

I agree with already having developed some of the elements of tenacity, but as you point out in the picture, there is a difference between persistence and tenacity, and I feel like (sadly) most classes focus more on persistence than tenacity. The additional challenge comes from the workload of things outside this class, which you mentioned you have too. Combining this challenge with the fact you also mentioned, that the more you give in this class, the more you get out of it, I have unfortunately on some occasions had to put less effort into the assignments than I would have wanted to. You seem to have had the same issue. I have followed you through your journey so far, and I think you have done a good job! You mentioned giving real, yet encouraging feedback as your tip, which I totally agree with. However, sometimes it also means giving constructive criticism, which sometimes can be hard, to give and to hear, but it is what I think is the most valuable feedback.

    Enjoy your spring break!

  2. Hey there Nancy,
I like the point you made in the beginning about how this class is a different form of perserverance. It can be hard at times to make sure that all assingments are done on time. It requires energy and a constant attentivness to the calendar to make sure that nothing is missed. Espeically the tip at the end is very helpful for future students, about doing assingments ahead of time. When all the work piles up at once, it can be tough to finish it all.
